MADURAI/TRICHY: The ten southern districts reported 399 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, while Madurai reported 40 new cases, 266 active cases and 31 recoveries.
With 97 cases, Virudhunagar recorded the highest number of new cases in the southern region, followed by Theni (49), Tirunelveli (46), Kanyakumari (44), Madurai (40), Dindigul (37), Tuticorin (33), Tenkasi (24), Sivaganga (22), and Ramanathapuram (7).
Active cases in the region rose to 2,594 with Virudhunagar having the highest with 478 cases. The central region reported 162 new cases, a drop from 175 the previous day. Trichy also reported a mild drop in new cases with 34 new cases and 328 active cases. The region has 1,280 active cases.
