39 new cases recorded in Hunter New England

The Hunter New England district has recorded another 39 cases of COVID-19.

Of the new cases announced Saturday, just 13 were in Hunter local government areas.

There were seven cases each in MidCoast and Inverell, five each in Newcastle, Moree Plains and Tamworth, four in Port Stephens, two each in Lake Macquarie and Armidale and one each in Cessnock and Dungog.

Twenty one of the cases were infectious in the community, 15 were isolating while infectious, while the isolation status of three was unknown.

There were 29 linked cases, seven unlinked and three under investigation.

The new figures bring the number of active cases in the district to 888 and the total number of cases since August 5 to 3809.

There are 18 active cases currently in hospital in the Hunter New England, including three requiring intensive care.

It comes as the state added another 250 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm Friday, but thankfully no deaths.

Hunter New England had the third highest number of cases across the state, with South Western Sydney recording 54 and 42 in Western Sydney.

Hunter New England said it was encouraging testing for Inverell, Moree and Lower Mid North Coast as well as vaccinations for people across the district yet to be vaccinated.

Walk-in clinics for first, second and third/booster vaccinations are available across the district. Community members can now walk in to hubs to receive their vaccinations, however, to ensure the fastest possible experience, bookings are encouraged and can be made via the Commonwealth Government's COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Finder.

First and second doses are available for people aged 12 years and older. For people aged 18 years and older, who received their second vaccination more than six months ago, they may receive their booster dose.
