37 per cent of cat owners make weird confession

More than a third of British cat owners, 37%, have tried their cat’s food - with 18% saying it was an accident and 19% confessing that curiosity got the better of them and tried it on purpose.

The research from ACANA Petfoods reveals that the cost-of-living crisis hasn’t deterred cat owners, with 56 per cent investing in premium food for their four-legged friend, and looking for quality cat food with fresh and raw ingredients.

TV chef Matt Tebbutt said: “Having two cats of different ages, eating different diets, mirrors my instinct to be innovative in the kitchen as a chef. Seeing what my cats eat inspires me to create dishes that are just as nutritious as they are flavoursome.

"It is so important to select ingredients from a nutritional standpoint as well as include texture and flavours in our meals – making you actually want to eat it. And the same goes for the cats, they are much more interested in a varied diet that includes both wet and dry – which keeps them coming back.”
