TRANG: A summer storm hit a village in tambon Nong Prue of Rassada district in this southern province on Saturday, damaging 37 houses. No casualties were reported.

Surin Chaithong, the village chief, said of the 37 houses, 20 had their roofs and ceilings partly blown away by the storm. A coffee booth collapsed, damaging a car parked nearby.

A tent set up by the village for road safety service during the Songkran Festival was also blown away, but nobody was hurt.

The Nong Prue tambon administration organisation (TAO) has provided metal roofing sheets and tiles for people hit by the storm to make stopgap repairs to their homes. The repair work is expected to be completed in a few days.

People have been advised to closely monitor weather forecasts, Mr Surin said.
