Osaka Prefecture announced Monday that 341 people were newly confirmed as having tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
In Tokyo, 249 people were newly confirmed as having contracted the virus. Even though the figure was below 300, it extended to five days the trend of surpassing the figure from the same day of the week the previous week.
The number of the patients in the capital in serious condition decreased by one to 46.
According to the Tokyo metropolitan government, the seven-day moving average of new cases per day was 391.9, an increase of 9.6% from the previous seven-day period of 357.7 cases.
