34 Y.O. Man Arrested In Relation To Missing Queensland Teenager Pheobe Bishop

James Wood, the housemate of missing teenager Pheobe Bishop, has been arrested in relation to her disappearance.

On Wednesday, Queensland Police confirmed that the 34-year-old housemate of Pheobe Bishop has been taken into custody and is being questioned over the 17-year-old’s whereabouts.

According to 9News, Wood is “assisting police with enquiries” in their investigation into the matter and has confirmed that no charges have been laid.

The teenager was last seen at Bundaberg Airport on Thursday, May 15, at approximately 8:30 am. Bishop was due to fly to Western Australia to visit her boyfriend, but according to police, she never checked in for her flight or entered the terminal.

Since her disappearance, the teen has not contacted friends or family, and her bank account has remained untouched.

Police have since declared two crime scenes in Bishop’s case, including her Gin Gin home — which she shared with Wood and Tanika Bromley — and her housemate’s grey Hyundai ix35.

The major development in Bishop’s disappearance comes shortly after detectives confirmed that they have suspended all physical searches for her.

“There are currently no physical searches for Pheobe at this stage, however, physical searches will happen as needed and as information is provided,” a Queensland Police spokesperson said, per 9News.

“Investigations are ongoing and police are continuing to run out several lines of enquiry.”

While physical searches have come to a halt, police confirmed that they found items linked to the investigation while combing Good Night Scrub National Park last week. They also believe that some evidence linked to the case had been moved from the national park before authorities arrived.

“Investigations are ongoing and police are continuing to run out several lines of inquiry,” police said at the time.

“The greater Gin Gin area remains the focus of the investigation.”

Prior to Wood’s arrest, he and Bromley were charged with unrelated weapons offences after police allegedly found guns and ammunition in the Hyundai.

Bishop’s mother, Kylie Johnstone, has been continuously posting about her daughter’s disappearance, urging folks who have any information to come forward.

“I don’t know if life will ever be the same again? I don’t know if I will ever look at the world the same way that I did before May 15th,” she wrote in a post shared earlier today.

“What I do know is that people have information on where you are Phee and we need that reported to police.”

Today marks the 20th day since Bishop had disappeared.
