Tokyo confirmed 337 new cases of coronavirus infection on Tuesday, marking the fourth consecutive day that the daily figure has exceeded the number from the same day in the previous week.
The number of COVID-19 patients with serious symptoms in the capital decreased by five to 42.
The average number of new infections in the past seven days was 308.1, up by 6.6% from 289 in the previous seven days, according to the Tokyo metropolitan government.
