33 stunning pictures show how Liverpool took over the city for Champions League parade

Thousands of supporters started the day with a sore head after Liverpool's 2-0 Champions League final victory over Spurs in Madrid saw Reds fans party through the night.

Virgil van Dijk admitted having only half an hour's sleep after Liverpool clinched their sixth European cup in Spain.

But no-one was going to miss today's victory parade - a four-hour tour of the city with Liverpool's heroes showing off their silverware on the top deck of an open-top bus.

In fact, according to the Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson, a staggering 750,000 fans descended on the city centre for the Reds' homecoming parade.

There were flares, fireworks, brilliant banners - and even a supporter wearing a rather revealing mankini - as fans scaled bus shelters, lamp-posts and street signs to catch a glimpse of the LFC bus.

On board the players looked relaxed with manager Klopp, in particular, waving at fans and living his best life.

The Reds boss was in high spirits enjoying during the parade and, at one point, pouring his drink over striker Rhian Brewster's head.
