31-year-old man dies in late night Ceredigion crash

A man has died following a late-night crash in Ceredigion.

The incident happened at around 10pm on Wednesday on the outskirts of the village of Ffostrasol, between Synod Inn and Llandysul in the south of the county.

Only one car was involved in the crash, which occurred on the A486 near the local football club.

A 31-year-old man, who was driving a blue Ford Ranger from the direction of Synod Inn, died at the scene from his injuries.

The road was closed in both directions as police and firefighters attended the scene.

Fire crews from Aberaeron and New Quay were called to the incident at 10.05pm and used a hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera and small gear to make the area safe.

They left the scene shortly after 3am.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are appealing for information about a fatal collision on the A486, next to Ffostrassol Football Club, which happened at around 10pm last night (Wednesday).

"The incident involved a blue Ford Ranger, which was travelling from the direction of Synod Inn.

“Sadly, a 31-year-old man, who was driving the vehicle, passed away at the scene. Nobody else was involved in the collision.

“Anyone with information that could help officers with their investigation is urged to contact the Ceredigion Roads Policing Unit by calling 101."

The man has not yet been named, but his family, and HM Coroner, have been informed of the death.
