A Sydney man has pleaded guilty to murdering his fiancée Anastasia Slastion at his family’s Greystanes home.
Isaac Costa was previously arrested in early 2023 following reports of a domestic violence-related incident at the property.
Neighbours said they woke in the early hours of February 25, 2023 to a “screaming fit”. Police found Slastion dead in the home after she was reportedly beaten to death.
Costa was taken to Granville Police Station and charged with murder.
“He was there four days ago introducing her to everyone as his new fiancée,” a neighbour said after the incident, per the Daily Telegraph.
“She had a thick Russian accent. It’s just so sad that this has happened days later.”

Slastion, originally from Latvia, spent many years in Russia before moving to Sydney. Detectives were investigating if she and Costa had met via a dating app.
Appearing at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday, Costa, 30, attended via video link as the court heard he would plead guilty to domestic violence-related murder, per the publication.
The case was adjourned to the NSW Supreme Court for sentencing later this year, on July 4.
A number of family members and loved ones have paid tribute to Slastion since the tragic incident, with her cousin describing her as a “beautiful” and “intelligent” individual.
“I couldn’t believe it when my mum rang me up and told me… She was such a beautiful, super intelligent, talented girl. She was a software engineer. And she had the whole life ahead of her,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
“This is such an emotional pain for our family.”
Another relative said she had worried about Slastion being alone in Australia without any friends or family, per the Daily Telegraph.
Slastion was one of 64 women who were killed in shocking incidents of violence in 2023.

Per the Australian Femicide Watch, 25 Australian women have been killed in 2025, as of May 9.
Last week, the NSW government announced it would be rolling out an expanded protection program across the state which would empower local police to remove perpetrator of domestic violence from the home, while victim-survivors receive necessary support.
Security upgrades, as well as financial advice, legal health, and safety planning, will be provided to impacted families.
The government said it will extend the Staying Home Leaving Violence over four years to all 128 LGAs in the state, with an investment of $25.9 million.
