30 stone Jeremy Kyle guest says he would be dead if it wasn't for the axed ITV show

A 30-stone former guest on the controversial Jeremy Kyle show has spoken out in defence of the axed ITV star.

Jonathan Kingston had hit rock bottom when he went on the show in 2017 weighing 30st and was unable to work due to being morbidly obese.

Over a year later, the dad-of-one has spoken out and says the show "saved" his life, DailyStar reports.

In a last-ditch attempt to prove to his fiancée he hadn’t cheated, Steve contacted the show to take a lie detector test.

However, the show’s lie detector suggested he had strayed, which friends say left Steve distraught.

With many, including former employees, claiming the show took "advantage of vulnerable people", Jonathan spoke out in support.

He said: "If I hadn't gone on The Jeremy Kyle Show, I'd probably have been dead within a few months because of my weight – it was a lifeline for some.

"I was shocked to hear the show had been cancelled. I felt it did more good than anything.

"It's a show that's needed."

Jeremy Kyle helped him lose seven stone by sending him to a bootcamp, giving him a second chance at life.

Jonathan says he got monthly texts from a member of the production team for over a year afterwards checking to see how he was.

He added: "Jeremy Kyle and the show gave me a second chance.

"When I went back on the show after boot camp it was like he was proud to have helped me."
