Approximately 30 protesters were cited and several others were arrested at the University of Wisconsin-Madison after resisting police action to remove tents or otherwise interfered with the operation. This information was shared in a letter to the campus community by Chancellor Jennifer L. Mnookin.
The Chancellor mentioned that the protesters were given several warnings and offered the opportunity to peacefully leave the encampment with their belongings to avoid being cited or arrested. Prior communications, including messages from campus leaders, clearly outlined the consequences if the encampment was not removed.

Now that the illegal activity has been resolved, students and others are free to resume peaceful protest that abides by campus protest guidelines today or in the future. The operation focused solely on the tents and the encampment, which were deemed as the only prohibited activity.
Mnookin emphasized the school's support for peaceful protest and free expression, highlighting the importance of following campus guidelines for protests.
