The New York Giants came into Super Bowl XLII as 12-point underdogs against the undefeated Patriots. The Giants were a wild-card team. The Giants got the ball down 14-10 with 2:39 left. On third-and-5 from the Giants’ 44 Eli Manning escaped the grasp of three different Patriots players before launching a pass to David Tyree—who leaped up and caught the ball with one hand, securing it against his helmet. The play kept the drive alive, and it culminated in Plaxico Burress catching the winning touchdown to give the Giants a 17-14 victory.
Jets stun Colts

Joe Namath predicted it would happen and it did. The 18-point underdog New York Jets shocked the vaunted Baltimore Colts and the sports world with a 16-7 victory in Super Bowl III.
Chiefs upend Vikings

A year later, Hank Stram and the Kansas City Chiefs added another upset by an AFL team against the old-guard NFL by downing the Minnesota Vikings.
Pirates win 1960 World Series

The Pirates won the 1960 World Series against the legendary Yankees in Game 7, on a ninth inning, homer by Bill Mazeroski off Ralph Terry at Forbes Field.
Soderling upends Nadal

Rafael Nadal was looking to become the first player to win five consecutive French Open titles. In May, 2009, Robin Soderling, a 23rd- seeded Swede, who had never won a third-round match at any major tournament, handed Nadal a 6-2, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) defeat.

Rollie Massimino and Villanova played close to the perfect game in the 1985 NCAA tournament final, shocking John Thompson, Patrick Ewing and Georgetown, 66-64.
