30 most important Seahawks in 2019: No. 4, DE Ezekiel Ansah

For the final 30 days leading up to the start of Seattle Seahawks training camp, we will be counting down the 30 most important players on the roster heading into the 2019 season.

When the Seahawks traded defensive end Frank Clark to the Chiefs, it further emphasized the team’s need for more pass rushing help.

Even after drafting L.J. Collier in the first round, the Seahawks went ahead and signed six-year NFL veteran Ezekiel Ansah to give them an experienced veteran leader to help replace Clark.

Ansah is battling a shoulder injury, although he is expected to be ready for training camp. He has a history of injury issues, however, only appearing in seven games last year with the Lions.

Ansah also has a history of being an elite pass rusher, racking up 48 career sacks and 110 quarterback hits, which is the 12th-most in the league over the last five seasons.

For the Seahawks to have any hope at fielding a strong pass rush next season, Ansah will need to be healthy. If his play can resemble his 2017 season, when he had 12 sacks in 14 games, the Seahawks could have a formidable unit.
