Someone has created a video game called 30 Miles to Barnard Castle, in which players can control a man named Dominic as he drives from Durham to Barnard Castle.
The creation follows under-fire government advisor Dominic Cummings' claims that he embarked in April on a lockdown-flouting trip to the Northern sightseeing site – which took place on his wife Mary Wakefield’s birthday – as a means of testing his eyesight, amid concerns that his vision was failing.
In the game, a clip of which was posted by its creator, known as Stevie128k, players must drive along a road, avoiding obstacles.
While driving, you can hear a child’s voice saying, “get me to that castle right now”, along with coughing from “Dominic”.
The game’s description reads: “Dominic needs to get back to work. But his eyes went all weird.”
“Best drive to Barnard Castle with his kid just to make sure it’s safe to drive to London.”
The game was created in Dreams, the content creation engine released earlier this year on PlayStation 4 consoles.
Stevie128k is far from the only person looking to voice their apparent objection to Cummings’s actions.
Celebrities including JK Rowling and Hugh Grant have weighed in on the scandal, criticising Cummings, as well as the prime minister’s refusal to condemn his aide.
