3-year-old boy dies after falling from window on 17th floor of building on Near North Side

A 3-year-old boy died Tuesday after falling from a window on the 17th floor of a residential building on the Near North Side.

Chicago police said the boy may have pushed out a screen in an apartment in the 1100 block of North LaSalle Drive around 10:40 p.m. He was found in bushes below and taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the incident is being investigated as an accident.
