3-year-old boy died after suffering serious head injury

An inquest has opened into a three-year-boy who died after suffering a serious head injury.

Harvey Borrington, died on August 8 at Queen's Medical Centre due to a head injury, according to a provisional post mortem report.

He was identified by his mother, an inquest heard on Monday, September 20. Further investigations are set to be undertaken, with the case adjourned to a later date.

Inquests are set up to allow coroners to examine the deaths of people whose deaths need explaining.

Mr Gordon Clow, assistant coroner for Nottinghamshire, opened the inquest and said: "A post mortem examination was carried out. A final report is not available but the provisional cause of death is 1a a head injury.

"The hearing is adjourned for further enquiries to be completed, it will be resumed on a date yet to be fixed."
