3 wounded Wednesday in Chicago shootings

Three people were wounded July 10, 2019 in shootings across Chicago.

Three people were wounded Wednesday in citywide shootings.

The latest shooting happened in Washington Heights on the South Side, where a 29-year-old man was shot while sitting in a vehicle.

The man was in the vehicle about 10:40 p.m. in the 9200 block of South Eggleston Avenue when someone in a black BMW unleashed gunfire, Chicago police said.

He was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park with a gunshot wound to the arm, police said. His condition was stabilized.

Area South detectives are investigating.

About three hours earlier, a woman was hurt in a shooting in Portage Park on the Northwest Side.

The 26-year-old was in a parked vehicle at 7:37 p.m. in the 5800 block of West Eddy Street when someone in a black sedan opened fire, police said. She suffered a graze wound to the back and refused medical attention.

No arrests have been reported. Area North detectives are investigating.

In the day’s first reported shooting, a 21-year-old woman was shot in Chatham on the South Side.

The woman was walking about 2:25 a.m. in the first block of West 87th Street when she was shot in the face, shoulder and hand, police said. An acquaintance drove her to Rush Hospital, and from there she was transported to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was stabilized.

The woman told police she does not know where the shots came from and did not see the shooter.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.

Wednesday’s shootings come after a Tuesday that saw seven people wounded in shootings across Chicago.
