3 injured in separate South Side shootings

May 09--At least three people were wounded in separate shootings since Friday afternoon on the city's South Side.

Most recently, a 27-year-old man was shot in the Englewood neighborhood.

The man was driving in the 6200 block of South May Street about 2:20 a.m. when he heard gunfire and felt pain, police said.

The man drove himself to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his left bicep. The man's condition stabilized, police said.

About 9 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in West Chatham. Police said the man was wounded during a possible drive-by shooting in the 400 block of West 80th Street.

The man was shot in both legs and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized.

On Friday afternoon, a man was critically injured after being shot in both legs in the Kenwood neighborhood.

About 3 p.m., in the 4700 block of South Greenwood Avenue, an 18-year-old man was on the street when an offender walked up to him and fired shots, said Officer Veejay Zala, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department.

The assailant jumped into a white or silver colored Dodge that left the scene of the attack going north.

The 18-year-old was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Zala said.
