MIRAMAR, Fla. — A motorist opened fire on three vehicles traveling on Pembroke Road early Monday morning, injuring three women.
Police were called to the 8400 block of Pembroke Road about 2:15 a.m. Monday, where officers found two of the victims, who had been traveling in a black Infiniti. Their injuries are critical. Five minutes later, police in Davie were alerted that the suspected shooter fired on another black Infiniti, also injuring a woman. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Tania Rues, a spokeswoman for the Miramar Police Department, said the three women in the two Infiniti vehicles as well as someone in a black GMC SUV left the Grand Cafe Restaurant and Lounge in Pembroke Pines and were headed east when the shooter first opened fire on the SUV.
The driver then opened fire on the Infiniti, striking the two women, who were passengers. Both the SUV and the Infiniti stopped along the road near University Drive, while the driver of the second Infiniti kept going until being struck by gunfire in the 3500 block of South Pine Island Road in Davie.
Her passengers were not injured.
The SUV was still sitting in the middle of the Pembroke Road on Monday morning as police processed it. It was riddled with bullet holes on its front end. Dozens of green markers used by police to note bullet casings had been placed in the eastbound lanes of Pembroke Road.
Traffic remained shut down in both directions west of University Drive during morning rush hour as the investigation continued.
