As soon as the seventh round of the 2020 NFL ended, teams immediately went to work signing their class of undrafted free agents. This is a group that goes into training camp with high hopes but long odds to make the team. The Pittsburgh Steelers signed 10 UDFAs this time around and here are the three we see with the best chance to make the final 53-man roster.
LB | James Lockhart | Baylor
In watching Lockhart play over the past two seasons, you can see he is an ascending talent in terms of his pass-rushing skills. Lockhart went from only 3.0 sacks in 2018 to 8.5 in 2019. His skills are emerging to match up with his natural athletic ability and could end up being a preseason fan favorite.
LB | Leo Lewis | Miss. State

The Steelers need to find a reserve inside linebacker. so Lewis should have every opportunity to win that spot. He will have to beat out Ulysees Gilbert III but Lewis does have some solid athleticism and could find a spot if he can show up big on special teams and play more physical.
DE | Calvin Taylor | Kentucky

The Steelers have a knack for finding defensive lineman who they can utilize in their various 3-4 defensive fronts. There’s really no reason Taylor wasn’t drafted and he could be the perfect player to finally make Dan McCullers expendable. He’s an excellent pass rusher off the edge at 6-foot-9 and 310 pounds.
