Ozeki Takakeisho earned his fourth win of the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament by pushing down No. 3 maegashira Tamawashi (2-3) on the fifth day of action on Thursday, while three rank-and-filers lead the way at Tokyo's Ryogoku Kokugikan.

No. 4 maegashira Shodai, No. 11 maegashira Kagayaki and No. 14 maegashira Terutsuyoshi all won to remain undefeated.

Meanwhile, No. 1 maegashira Endo (4-1), who knocked off two yokozuna and an ozeki before losing on the fourth day, earned his fourth win by beating sekiwake Asanoyama (3-2).

Ozeki Goeido, who is under kadoban status and needs at least eight wins to keep his rank, suffered his fourth loss to No. 4 maegashira Okinoumi, who defeated the ozeki with an arm bar throw.

Sekiwake Takayasu, who aims to return to the ozeki rank with 10 or more wins at this tournament, suffered his third loss, falling to komusubi Daieisho (2-3) after a fierce exchange of shoves before being pushed out of the ring.
