A day after Draymond Green’s errant late-game heave ended a disappointing loss against the San Antonio Spurs, the Golden State Warriors bounced back in the second leg of a back-to-back in the lone star state.
Steph Curry’s 32 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the field with four rebounds and two assists led the Warriors past the Spurs for a 114-91 victory in San Antonio. During Golden State’s road swing in Texas, the former Most Valuable Player averaged 37.3 points on 57.6% shooting from the field with 4.8 assists and four rebounds in 35.8 minutes per contest. Curry has been red-hot from beyond the arc, drilling at least four 3-pointers in each game, shooting 50% from long distance.
After splitting the four-game road trip in Texas, the Warriors will return to San Francisco for a tilt against the Orlando Magic on Thursday at Chase Center.
Before the Warriors catch a flight back to the Bay Area, Here are three things to know from Golden State’s win over the Spurs on Tuesday night.
Third Quarter
Despite finishing the contest with a 23 point lead, the Warriors went into halftime with the game tied at 50. Curry exploded in the third quarter, recording 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field. The two-time Most Valuable Player helped push the Warriors to a 16 point advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
After building a steady lead in the third quarter, the Warriors were able to coast to victory in the final period of the contest.
Collective Effort
Although Curry recorded the game-high with 32 points, his scoring effort was contagious across Golden State’s rotation. Seven different members of the Warriors scored in double-figures on Tuesday night, including three different players off the bench.
With a limited lineup due to injuries to James Wiseman and Kevon Looney, the Warriors will continue to need different members of the rotation to add a scoring threat while the pair of bigs are sidelined.
Turnovers
During part one against the Spurs on Monday, turnovers plagued the Warriors. Golden State turned the ball over 20 times in their 105-100 loss in San Antonio. For part two, Golden State posted only 10 turnovers against the Spurs on Tuesday.
Along with cutting their turnovers in half, the Warriors notched 26 assists. Draymond Green led the Warriors with 11 dimes in 32 minutes. Over Golden State’s road trip, the former Defensive Player of the Year totaled 51 assists.
