On a historic night at Chase Center, Steph Curry torched the Denver Nuggets for 53 points to become the Golden State Warriors’ all-time leading scorer.
Trailing Wilt Chamberlain by 18 points heading into the contest, the two-time Most Valuable Player exploded for 21 points in the first quarter to take over the top spot in Golden State’s record books with 17,783 career points.
After inking his name at the top of another Warriors’ milestone, Curry went to work against the red-hot Nuggets. The seven-time All-Star took over for his third 50-point plus effort of the season, shooting 14-of-24 from the floor and 10-of-18 from beyond the arc. Curry added six boards and four assists in 36 minutes.

The 33-year-old now sits alone atop Golden State’s record books with 17,818 and counting.
Following a historic night at Chase Center to cap a three-game homestand, the Warriors will head on the road for a five-game swing.
Draymond Green
While Curry led the party with 53 points, Draymond Green added to Golden State’s offensive attack with 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor. Green showed off his range, drilling a pair of triples against the Nuggets.
Green’s 18 point performance was good enough for his highest-scoring effort of the 2020-21 campaign. The former Defensive Player of the Year tacked on seven boards, seven assists and four steals in 37 minutes.
Jamal Murray
After scoring 17 points on 5-of-15 shooting from the floor with four rebounds, four assists and three steals in 33 minutes against the Warriros, Nuggets guard Jamal Murray looked to suffer a scary injury late in the game.
With just 50 seconds remaining, Murray crashed to the floor after driving through the lane. The Kentucky product’s knee scarily appeared to give out. Murray winced in pain as he laid on the Chase Center floor before exiting the game. Denver’s training staff initially brought out a wheelchair to help Murray, but the 24-year-old guard refused it, leaving the game with the help of trainers instead.

Without Wiseman
With rookie James Wiseman out with a torn meniscus, Kevon Looney rejoined the Warriors’ starting lineup. In his first appearance in the starting lineup since March 19. Looney drew a matchup with MVP candidate Nikola Jokic.
While the Denver big man tallied 27 points on 10-of-21 shooting from the floor, Looney went scoreless in 31 minutes. Although Looney didn’t record a bucket on 0-of-3 shooting from the floor, the veteran big notched double-figures in rebounding with 11 boards against the Nuggets.
With Wiseman set to miss an extended run, the Warriors will need Looney to add some form of offense in the frontcourt down the stretch.
