The Philadelphia Eagles are quietly having an efficient free agency period, choosing quality over the big-name signings.
On Saturday the Eagles added linebacker Jatavis Brown to the roster and then doubled down, bringing a hometown kid back to the city.
Former Broncos safety Will Parks turned out more lucrative offers to join his hometown Birds on a one-year deal.
Parks brings a physical style of play coupled with versatility.
With the Eagles swapping Malcolm Jenkins out and Parks in, here are three things to know about the newest Eagles safety.
***
1. Parks is a North Philly native
The talented hybrid attended the former Germantown High School where he excelled. Standing 6oot-1 and 208 pounds, Parks transitioned on from Germantown to the Pac 12 and the University of Arizona, where he became a sixth-round pick of the Broncos in 2016.
2. Parks channels his inner Malcolm Jenkins
Like the former Eagles safety who he’ll be replacing, Parks has done a tremendous amount of work in the communities of Philadelphia.
Parks started investing his time into solutions for gun violence after his uncle was tragically gunned down in his Philadelphia neighborhood. Parks used the NFL’s “My Cause My Cleats” campaign to help bring awareness and then he donated $15,000 to Philadelphia Cease Fire.
3. Parks is extremely versatile
Parks can play in the slot, he can play in the box and he’s got a pretty good range as a safety.
Parks has racked up 148 tackles, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, and 13 pass breakups during his NFL career. His addition will make Jalen Mills even more valuable.
