3 things to know about new Eagles LB Duke Riley

The Philadelphia Eagles made a trade Monday night, acquiring linebacker Duke Riley and a 2020 sixth-round pick from the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for safety Johnathan Cyprien and a 2020 seventh-round pick. Rile was brought in to replace Eagles’ special teams ace L.J. Fort, who was released on Friday when Orlando Scandrick was signed.

With Riley now in Philadelphia, here are three things to know about the 25-year-old linebacker.

1. Riley went to LSU

Riley, a New Orleans native, was a team captain for the Tigers as a senior after being a backup his first three seasons. He racked up a team-high 93 tackles, nine for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 12 contests.

2. Riley likes to dance

A speedy linebacker, who played in 32 career games since being drafted in 2017, Riley received an overall grade of 44.2 from Pro Football Focus, which ranked 87th among all qualifying linebackers last season. Riley has 81 total tackles in 16 career starts and a had a career-best 12 tackle game last season against the Saints.

He’s probably best known for leading this dance routine in the Falcons locker room after their week two victory over the Eagles. The Falcons haven’t won since.

3. Riley is Young Money

The 25-year-old Riley was Lil Wayne’s first client with Young Money APAA Sports. Jaguars wide receiver Dede Westbrook along with NBA rookie guard Frank Mason III were among those to become the first group of athletes to sign deals with Young Money.
