The Philadelphia Eagles are definitely preaching competition in the secondary after adding another slot cornerback in former Rams defensive back, Nickell Robey-Coleman.
Robey-Coleman will compete in a crowded slot position that includes Avonte Maddox, Cre’Von LeBlanc and Tremon Smith.
With Robey-Coleman coming from the west coast, here are three things to know about the Eagles’ newest cornerback.

1. Robey-Coleman is a former Trojan star
Robey-Coleman was signed by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent in 2013 after playing collegiately at Southern Cal.
A Florida native, Robey-Coleman was a four-star recruit that chose USC over West Virginia, Tennessee, and Clemson, among other schools.
2. He comes with accolades
A former Jim Thorpe Award nominee, Robey-Coleman started throughout his career at Southern Cal, earned second-team All Pac-12 honors, but still went undrafted.
In his seven-year NFL career, Robey-Coleman has played in 111 games, starting 23 of them for 289 total tackles, 5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 48 passes defended with six career interceptions.
3. The Interference Call missed
Robey-Coleman will forever be remembered for his role in Saints Gate. A cornerback for the Rams at the time, he was involved in an uncalled pass interference penalty late in the game when he collided with Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis.
The Rams went on to win 26-23 in overtime, sending them to Super Bowl LIII, while Robey-Coleman admitted that he thought he should have been called for defensive pass interference.
