The Kansas City Chiefs recently agreed to terms with defensive end Taco Charlton to a one-year contract. That deal has since been made official by Kansas City. Charlton joins former Michigan Wolverines teammate Frank Clark on the defensive line and looks to be part of the rotation for the Chiefs in 2020.
Here are three things the Chiefs Kingdom should know about their newest player:

His real name is Vidauntae Charlton…
But he goes by Taco. Where did the nickname Taco come from? He’s had the nickname since before he was born.
“It is thanks to my mother and grandmother,” Charlton said. “They gave me the name before I was born. It kind of stuck. I really didn’t have anything to do with it. Like I said, once your grandmother and your mom give you a name, there is no really running away from it.”
As you can see he’s really fond of the nickname, wearing a taco chain ahead of games. He even previously had an endorsement deal with a taco restaurant. There may be some competition for the “Big Mac for Sacks” campaign in Kansas City. Something along the lines of, “When Taco eats, everybody eats.”

Charlton has a signature celebration when he gets a sack
On the topic of tacos, Charlton has a signature sack celebration that is inspired by his nickname. Every time he gets a sack he throws some sauce on the tacos and hands them out to his teammates. This celebration will fit in well with the myriad of other celebrations that the Chiefs offense and defense have come up with over the years.
Hopefully, Chiefs fans will get to see a lot of these celebrations during the 2020 NFL season.

He followed the Kansas City Chiefs pretty closely in 2019
As I mentioned earlier, Charlton will rejoin his former mentor and Michigan teammate Frank Clark on the Chiefs. During the 2019 season, Charlton had a distinct interest in the performance of Clark. He appeared to be excited about Clark’s new opportunity in Kansas City and often retweeted highlights and posts from Clark throughout the season.
It’s hard not to be excited about the potential of Charlton playing with his former teammate on the Chiefs. While many are quick to label him a bust, he’s still filled with talent and untapped potential. Charlton is just waiting to be unleashed by a good coaching staff, and hopefully, that is exactly what happens in Kansas City.
