3 things to know about Jets third-round pick OT Chuma Edoga

The Jets traded up to the No. 93 selection in order to select University of Southern California OT Chuma Edoga.

New York obviously needs to improve its offensive line around Sam Darnold, who is now reunited with his former college OT. Edoga is considered a bit of a project but can push to start at right or left tackle next season.

Let’s get to know the newest New York Jet.

Chuma Edoga was a First-Team Parade All-American and All-State pick from Atlanta, Georgia.

He was also a five-star recruit. Edoga was the No. 26 prospect in the nation, the No. 1 guard prospect and No. 3 prospect out of the state of Georgia.

After arriving on campus, Edoga was moved to right tackle as coaches were impressed by him running the 100-meter at 6-foot-6, 365 pounds.

Sam Darnold will be getting some familiarity on the offensive line.

Edoga played with Darnold as his starting right tackle. The Jets are double dipping on this pick. Not only are they making their franchise quarterback happy, but they are also getting a potential franchise tackle of the future.

4-Year College Starter

Chuma Edoga started right away as a freshman.

Trojans coaches plugged him in at right tackle during his freshman year, playing him in 13 games. Edoga played in just nine games his sophomore season.

He started 12 games at right tackle as a junior, missing two games with a sprained ankle. Edoga held down the right tackle for all 12 games his senior season.

His performance his senior season earned him a Senior Bowl invite, where he excelled and helped raise his draft stock.
