Despite going into the offseason with very little money to spend, the Pittsburgh Steelers front office did a nice job getting their roster in order and be sure the Steelers can be competitive in the AFC. But with the preseason less than three months away, the work isn’t done.
Here are three things the Steelers still need to finish up before the start of the season.
Bringing in a veteran inside linebacker
I have as much optimism as anyone when it comes to the potential of Ulysees Gilbert III as the team’s third off-ball linebacker. Nevertheless, Pittsburgh should still look into adding another player who could take that fourth spot and be an ace on special teams while still providing support on defense.
Explore free agency for a veteran quarterback

I know I might sound like a broken record but Pittsburgh still needs to consider a veteran quarterback to back up Ben Roethlisberger. There are several interesting players on the market now but depending on what happens with the quarterback position battles around the NFL, Pittsburgh has to at least explore some options.
Don’t rule out a veteran offensive lineman

Similar to quarterback, the Steelers have to keep an eye out to see if any teams have to release a quality offensive lineman who could come in and offer stability at guard and center. Pittsburgh found Joe Haden just before the start of the 2017 season and he’s been a huge part of the Steelers turnaround on defense. It would be great if they could re-create that this time around with an offensive lineman.
