3 things that stood out in first quarter of Chargers vs. Raiders

The Raiders lead the Chargers, 10-0.

Here are three things that stood out in the first quarter:

Bad decision, Philip

First quarter interceptions and slow starts have been a issue for quarterback Philip Rivers and those woes continued on the both drive. Rivers had wide receiver Keenan Allen wide open, but he overthrew him and the ball was picked off by Erik Harris. His second interception was resulted in tight end Hunter Henry slipping.

Can’t slow down the pass rush

Entering the game, the Raiders struggled to get to opposing quarterbacks, totaling only 15 sacks this season. That hasn’t been the case thus far as they have sacked Rivers twice. Defensive end Maxx Crosby has been a problem for offensive tackle Trent Scott. Rookie Trey Pipkins had to fill in for Russell Okung, who’s questionable to return with a groin injury.

The positives

The defense has done a nice job keeping quarterback Derek Carr and company off the field. Running back Josh Jacobs was the focal point, but he’s only had two carries. On the other side of the ball, running backs Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler have 55 yards rushing on nine attempts already.
