3 things that stood out in first quarter of Chargers vs. Packers

The Chargers lead the Packers 6-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Here are three things that stood out:

More rhythm, more flow

Shane Steichen’s first drive as the team’s play-caller was very impressive. The Chargers went 15 plays for 84 yards and had the ball for 8:04. The drive only resulted in a field goal, but we saw an up-tempo offense with multiple personnel and it created one-on-one matchups. It also helped that pass protection was stout, allowing quarterback Philip Rivers plenty of time to throw.

Joey Bosa’s dominance continues

The first defensive stand from the Chargers saw an aggressive approach, forcing the Packers to go three-and-out. The Packers were forced to punt after quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked. Who sacked him? None other than Bosa. Bosa on Ingram were lined up on the same side, creating a one-on-one matchup for him to flourish.

The Money Badger

Both of the Chargers offensive drives didn’t result in a touchdown, but kicker Michael Badgley converted both of his field goals (29, 40 yards). A groin injury is what hampered him from seeing the field the first eight weeks of the season, but it appears it’s no longer bothering him.
