3 teams offer best first-round trade opportunities for Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens aren’t shy when it comes to trading on draft night. Last year, in Ozzie Newsome’s final draft as general manager, the Ravens made six trades, including two in the first round. Though there’s a new boss in Baltimore, with Eric DeCosta leading the team in his first draft as general manager, expect it to be business as usual when it comes to draft night trades.

“But one thing that we’ve shown over the past years is we know how to manufacture picks,” DeCosta said in April. “So if the opportunity is there, we’ll have a chance to trade back and accumulate picks.”

With that in mind, let’s take a look — with the help of Draft Wire’s draft-pick trade value chart — at some potential trading partners for the Ravens in the first-round.

New England Patriots

While the Patriots are usually content to wait around to make their selection or trade it to another team, they could certainly come calling for Baltimore’s No. 22 overall pick if a prospect they covet falls down the board. New England currently holds two second-round selections, and could probably throw together an enticing package involving one or both of those picks.

Los Angeles Chargers

Sitting at pick No. 28, Los Angeles could try to leapfrog some other teams for the right player. However, with the team probably not in the hunt for a quarterback in the first round, it remains to be seen who exactly they’d be clamoring to climb up the board for.

Los Angeles Rams

Slated to go second-to-last in the first-round at pick No. 31, the Rams are another team that could come calling for the Ravens’ pick. However, much like the Chargers, Los Angeles is a very competitive team that doesn’t have great incentive to cast away their draft capital.
