Matt Schaub’s 460 passing yards wouldn’t be enough for the Falcons to pull off a comeback against the Seahawks on Sunday. The team is now 1-7 after losing its sixth-straight game.
Here are three takeaways from the Falcons’ frustrating home loss in Week 8.
Sack-less streak finally over

Grady Jarrett finally ended Atlanta’s sack-less streak, and Tyeler Davis unfathomably added a second sack in the same game, bringing the team’s total to seven on the season. It was again too little, too late for the Falcons, as Russell Wilson did enough damage to win the game in the first half. It’s nice to see the sack-less streak end, but disappointing that it wasn’t good enough for this team to find a much-needed win.
Matt Schaub played well enough to win

Schaub threw for 460 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He was far from perfect, but Schaub showed this team’s problems go much deeper than quarterback play. There’s no guarantee that Ryan would have played any better, and most of the usual problems were to blame. The team nearly pulled off a comeback, but the defense’s early lapses would ultimately cost Atlanta again. Schaub couldn’t have played better, which adds to the frustration of another home loss.
Dan Quinn isn’t going anywhere, yet

Despite reports this morning that Falcons owner Arthur Blank wouldn’t fire head coach Dan Quinn during the bye week, it seems inevitable the change will happen at some point. It’s unlikely that change will happen until the season is over, with Atlanta fighting hard with its backup quarterback against one of NFC’s best teams. If Blank had already determined he will not fire Quinn, Sunday’s loss will do little to change that, as much as fans may hope.
