Our friends over at Draft Wire have put out a brand new three-round mock draft and so you know we have to take some time to completely pick it apart for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In this scenario, the Steelers landed for LSU defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence in the second round and former Utah running back Zack Moss in the third.
Here are our three big takeaways from the mock draft.
The Steelers still won the Minkah Fitzpatrick trade
In this scenario, the Miami Dolphins trade away the No. 18 overall pick which belonged to the Steelers to the Detroit Lions. With the pick, the Lions select defensive tackle Jordan Kinlaw. Make no mistake, Kinlaw is going to be a great pro. But this mock just proves once again how well the Steelers made out in landing Fitzpatrick with the pick.
Pittsburgh had its pick of stars in the second round

Just looking at the rundown of options for the Steelers in the second round, it really illustrates just how deep this draft class is. I have no qualms with Lawrence being the pick but with guys like running back J.K. Dobbins, linebacker Malik Harrison and offensive tackle Lucas Niang on the board, Pittsburgh might consider a trade back to stockpile some extra picks.
Moss is a perfect fit for Pittsburgh

A lot of fans won’t view running back as a top draft need but you don’t pass up a player like Moss with the uncertainty Pittsburgh has about the future of the running back position. Moss is exactly the type of power back the Steelers need to help bring balance to the offense.
