When the Pittsburgh Steelers start the business of preparing for the 2020 season, there are going to be some tough decisions to make. Pittsburgh nearly made the playoffs despite a rash of injuries and are just a few players away from being a solid contender in the AFC. Here are three starting positions where the Steelers could use an offseason upgrade.
Safety Terrell Edmunds
Is it too soon to write off Edmunds? Maybe but when you have a group as good as the Steelers secondary, Edmunds stood out like a sore thumb as the weakest link. Edmunds gave up a passer rating of 139.1 when being targeted in 2019. By comparison, the next worst Steelers defensive back was cornerback Mike Hilton. And it was 84.1.
Tight end Vance McDonald

Aside from the fact cutting McDonald loose is a smart camp move, it is time for the Steelers to move into the 21st century with the tight end position. McDonald has some skills but a real athletic receiving option could truly open up the offense.
Guard Ramon Foster

First off, let us say we love having Foster as a Steeler. He’s one of the most genuine guys in the NFL and one of the nicest. But again this comes down to a financial choice and an opportunity to upgrade the starting left guard spot. Foster struggled as a run blocker the past season and this was a big part of why the offense failed to get traction.
