3 Steelers players to watch vs. Titans

Hot on a two-game winning streak midway through the preseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers head into the third week of the preseason looking to stay hot.

Pittsburgh has a lot to evaluate moving forward, with a number of heated position battles still going on at quarterback, kicker and other areas on the roster.

The next game will be against the Tennessee Titans, who dropped their last preseason game against the New England Patriots, 22-17. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT on Sunday in Nissan Stadium.

Here are three Steelers players to keep an eye on Sunday evening.

Roethlisberger has yet to play in a preseason game this year, but he’s expected to make his debut on Sunday. While the Steelers’ first meaningful matchup of the year is still weeks away, this will serve as an indication as to where the veteran is in season preparation.

It will also be interesting to see just how long Pittsburgh plays him in Nashville.

2. QB Mason Rudolph

The Steelers’ situation at backup quarterback remains foggy as Rudolph and Joshua Dobbs continue to battle it out for second-string. Mike Tomlin made it clear after the contest against the Kansas City Chiefs that Rudolph wasn’t out of the mix, and there’s also a decent chance the two could split time behind Roethlisberger.

Rudolph had two touchdown passes in the preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and has passed for 168 yards without an interception through two games.

3. K Chris Boswell

Pittsburgh has been alternating between Boswell and Matthew Wright in kicking responsibilities, and it will be curious to see what Boswell is capable of if given ample opportunities through a full preseason game.

The kicker has had a solid offseason, and could easily be who the Steelers need in a starter at the position.
