3-star tight end from Cincinnati includes Ohio State in top six schools

Three-star tight end Joe Royer from Cincinnati Elder will be on the campus of Ohio State for an official visit this weekend. Before that however, he decided to drop his top six schools via his Twitter feed Tuesday.

And as you’d guess, the Buckeyes are included in the list along with Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona State, and LSU. He’s clear that his recruitment is still open so this isn’t a final six list, but rather a top six and you have to believe that it could change as time goes on.

Still, Royer seems to be high on Ohio State. The Buckeyes are the home state school and the recruiting types have him heavily leaning towards ending up at Columbus as it stands right now.

At 6-5, 225 lbs., Royer is rated as the No. 41 tight end and 920th overall recruit in the country according to 247Sports. So, he might be a little under the radar, but the coaching staff at Ohio State believe that he could develop into more. Plus, he’s an Ohio kid and Day has continually stressed the importance of keeping those in the Buckeye state at home if they see the potential.

We’ll see how it all plays out when he’s in Columbus this weekend and beyond.
