3-Star Recruit Julius Marble signs letter of intent to Michigan State

With today’s announcement that Dallas native and power forward Julius Marble has signed his letter of intent to the Spartans, Michigan State has now rounded out their 2019-20 recruiting class. The class is as follows:

  • Mark ‘Rocket’ Watts, Guard, No. 33 ranked player in the country
  • Malik Hall, Forward, No. 55 ranked player in the country
  • Julius Marble, Forward, No. 366 ranked player in the country

This recruiting class is good for 25th in the country this year. Michigan State didn’t have many spots open, with a team largely comprised of veterans, but still managed to put together a compelling group of talent.

Malik Hall and Rocket Watts are both tantalizing offensive talents and highly regarded recruits, but Marble is the type of player Izzo makes a living developing.  A strong, versatile, stretch-forward, Marble walks into school with a skill set not dissimilar to Xavier Tillman or Kenny Goins, but with more natural talent than someone like Goins.

While Rocket Watts and Malik Hall might be gone after a few years, I look at Marble as someone who will stay and grow with the program over four years. It will be fun to see how Izzo is able to mold a guy like Marble over his career with the Spartans.
