April 13--Eight people have been wounded in shootings across the city in a 14-hour period beginning Sunday afternoon, police said.
Most recently, a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old male were wounded in a shooting about 2:20 a.m. in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
The two were in a parked vehicle in the 12500 block of South Yale Avenue when two attackers came out of a dark-colored SUV and fired multiple gunshots toward their vehicle, Greer said.
The gunmen went back into the SUV and fled eastbound.
The 17-year-old was hit in the buttocks, and the 20-year-old was wounded in the leg and abdomen, Greer said.
The two managed to drive to Roseland Community Hospital. The conditions of both stabilized, Greer said.
No one was in custody as of early Monday.
Over an hour earlier, a 22-year-old man was also wounded in a shooting around 1:05 a.m. in the West Pullman neighborhood, police said.
The man was in the 11900 block of South Prairie Avenue when he was shot in the back area, said Greer, citing preliminary information.
The man's condition stabilized at Roseland, she said.
No other information was immediately available.
Around 9:15 p.m., a 29-year-old was wounded in a shooting in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side, Greer said.
The man was standing outside in the 7100 block of South State Street when he heard gunshots and realized that he had been shot in the leg, Greer said, citing preliminary information.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition stabilized.
No one was in custody, and no other information about the shooting was immediately available.
At 6:35 p.m., a 30-year-old man was shot on the 4500 block of North Magnolia Avenue in the Uptown neighborhood, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago police spokesman.
The man was outside when a vehicle drove up and a person got out and shot him in the leg before fleeing, Sweeney said. The man, a known gang member, was taken to an area hospital in good condition.
A 32-year-old man was on the 6100 block of South Ingleside Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side when he was shot about 4:30 p.m., Sweeney said.
After the shooting, the man managed to get to the 6100 block of South Ellis Avenue, where he was taken with a gunshot wound to the shoulder to Stroger Hospital. The man was reportedly in fair condition, Sweeney said.
About 2:05 p.m., a 35-year-old woman was wounded in the Belmont Heights neighborhood on the Northwest Side, Greer said.
The woman was in the 3600 block of North Oleander Avenue when she was shot in the arm during a possible domestic-related incident, Greer said.
The woman was taken to Community First Medical Center where she was listed in good condition, Greer said.
No additional information was available on the shooting.
Earlier, a 20-year-old man was injured after being shot in the Avalon Park neighborhood, police said.
The man walked into South Shore Hospital at 12:40 p.m. after being shot in the hand, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a police spokeswoman.
The man told police he had been shot near 85th Street and Stony Island Avenue, Sedevic said. He was in good condition with a gunshot wound to a thumb, police said.
