Two women are dead and a man injured after what police are calling a “targeted” shooting Monday night on the South Side.
Brittani Rice, 18, and Senobia Bratley, 19, were sitting in a parked vehicle at 11:38 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Eggleston Avenue when three males got out of a blue sedan and started firing at their vehicle, Chicago police said.
Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the shooting “appears to be a targeted incident” in a tweet posted Tuesday morning.
Rice and Bratley were both shot several times in the body and taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where they were pronounced dead minutes later, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
A 19-year-old man who was in the vehicle with them took himself to University of Chicago Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, and his condition was stabilized.
No one is in custody, police said. Area South detectives are investigating.
