NAKHON PATHOM: Three 12-year-old girl students died after a motorcycle they were riding on collided with a 10-wheel lorry on a road bend in Muang district on Sunday afternoon.

Pol Lt Col Boonyasak Tipma, a Muang police duty officer, said the accident happened at 1.07pm on the road through a village in tambon Nong Ngu Luam.

Eyewitnesses told police the motorcycle strayed across the middle line on a bend in the road in front of Wat Nong Ngu Luam temple and collided with a dirt lorry travelling in the opposite direction. The truck ran over the motorcycle and the girls, killing them instantly.

The three girls -- Sujitra Butpa, Pathita Inprai and Tiwaporn Chanpong, Mathayom Suksa 1 students of Rajinee Burana School in Muang district -- were on the way to do homework together when the accident occurred, police said.
