Feb. 22--The Bulls improved to 29-26 with their home victory over the Lakers. Here are three observations.
The ball movement is better
The Bulls posted 30 assists one game after recording a season-high 32. They also had 20 fast-break points.
They're getting the ball up the court more quickly, making quicker decisions and getting ball reversal more consistently. Obviously, they're not going to shoot 55.7 percent every game, which was a season-high. But if they can continue to move the ball, they'll at least get good shots. Mike Dunleavy's presence also has helped spacing.
Doug McDermott needs more shots
The second-year forward knocked down six of nine shots for his second straight strong outing. Even when his shot isn't falling, the Bulls need to feature McDermott more. His presence alone creates driving lanes. And his ability to move off the ball is underrated.
Derrick Rose continues to attack
Beyond his numbers, which have been impressive for over a month, Rose is consistently beating defenders off the dribble and getting to the rim. Rose consistently downplayed his left orbital fracture other than to acknowledge its effects on his vision. But he knocked out his entire training camp, and Rose took time to round into shape and form.
Dunleavy noted how Rose is stringing games together for the first time in awhile.
