Feb. 25--The Bulls improved to 30-26 with their home victory over the Wizards. Here are three observations.
The ball movement is better
That's 88 assists in three games now. Obviously, making shots plays a big part and the Bulls have shot 50 percent or better in three straight games for the first time since February 2014 when they did so four straight times.
But players are making quick decisions. The ball isn't sticking. And there is reversal in most halfcourt sets. That needs to continue even when Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose are playing together.
Taj Gibson continued his strong play and vocal leadership
Ever since he saw Chris Bosh yelling at his Heat teammates for blowing defensive assignments, Gibson has done more than lead by example. He has become more vocal on the court and in the locker room.
Add to this strong play which featured a career-high seven assists against the Wizards and it's a good combination.
"I had a long dinner talk with Pau (Gasol) and he told me everybody has to do something and put more into it," Gibson related. "Go back into the gym, put more into it and be more aggressive. I have to be more assertive and call for the ball and be aggressive."
E'Twaun Moore is unfazed by pressure
The quiet, understated and unheralded vet scored eight of his team-high 17 points in the fourth. He hit three big baskets late.
Moore isn't flashy but he is dependable.
"Just being a basketball player," Moore said. "I'm always confident in my abilities. When I have the ball in my hand just go and make a play. It's not like I've never done it before. This is my fifth year in the league. I know some people don't realize that. They think it's my second. I've been other places; I've had big games before."
