3 people rescued as Land Rover becomes submerged in water in East Leake

Three people had to be rescued by fire crews after becoming stranded in water in the wake of Storm Eunice.

Two adults and a child had to be taken out of the water by firefighters from East Leake Fire Station on Friday, February 18.

Pictures taken at the scene show crews using a boat to escort those in the land rover to safety after its wheels became submerged in the water.

East Leake Fire Station said in a statement: "Two adults and one child rescued by service.

"Please remember to take care whilst out on the roads. Only drive within your capabilities."

"If you do come into trouble please remember to use what3words for your location.

"Thanks to the assistance from Highfields Fire Station and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service Loughborough Station."

The what3words app is a proprietary geocode system designed to identify any location with a resolution of about 3 metres.

It means people can be found quickly and easily by the emergency services if they ever need assistance.
