Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers (2-4) is essentially a must-win game for the Tennessee Titans (2-4) to ensure their season doesn’t go entirely off the rails.
The Chargers are struggling significantly, on a two-game losing streak like the Titans. But Tennessee is still a very beatable team for them, considering just how stagnant Arthur Smith’s offense has been.
Here are three things the Titans must do on offense to get a win on Sunday.
1. Protect the quarterback.

The Titans may have made a change at quarterback, but he’s still behind the same offensive line. The Titans have allowed 29 sacks this season over just six games, and they’re going to have to be more solid as a unit to get the offense going.
2. Keep the momentum.

The Titans have only really looked dominant against the Cleveland Browns in 2019, but the fact the team beat itself with penalties was a factor. Tennessee also kept the momentum for the majority on the win against the Atlanta Falcons. The team needs to strike first and early on the keep the tide turned in their favor, considering this team typically doesn’t do well playing from behind.
3. Generate the ground attack.

Running the ball worked especially well for the Titans toward the end of last season, and Derrick Henry hasn’t gotten the ball as much as he could have this season. The Chargers feature a solid pass defense, but their run defense sits at No. 22 in the NFL, with 120.5 rushing yards allowed per game.
Sunday’s a good day to incorporate Henry heavily.
