3 movies to stream after 'The Pickup' on Prime Video

"The Pickup" streaming on Prime Video.

If "The Pickup" left you ready to jump into an action-packed heist after watching it all unfold on the small screen, Prime Video has plenty to keep the momentum going. Watching Eddie Murphy and his crew of ne'er-do-wells plot to steal $60 million is already a fun ride, but you'll still be wanting more after the movie's over. The good news? There are several other films on the streaming service that scratch that same itch.

Yes, whether you want memorable antiheroes, tightly wound plots that reward you for paying attention or twists that sneak up on you just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, you'll find all of that and more with these three movies I've selected for watching after this heist comedy.

So queue up a few of these after "The Pickup" for more stories that balance mystery with razor-sharp storytelling. Here are my favorite picks on Prime Video to keep the heist vibes going.

'Empire State' (2013)

Empire State drops you right into the streets of 1980s Queens, where Chris (Liam Hemsworth), works security at a cash depot but finds the pay and prospects lacking. His childhood friend Eddie (Michael Angarano) has a habit of chasing big scores, and together they stumble onto a risky idea: robbing the place where Chris works.

Soon they’re not just trying to outwit Chris’s boss, but they’re also dodging a determined NYPD detective (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson). That puts them in the path of people you don’t want as enemies.

'Wild Card' (2015)

Nick Wild (Jason Statham) is a Las Vegas bodyguard who keeps one foot in the shadows. He takes small jobs for people who can’t call the cops, drifting from one gig to the next while gambling away most of what he earns.

But when a close friend is attacked by a man with powerful connections, Nick steps in without thinking and finds himself in far deeper than he planned. As he finds himself knee-deep in disaster while suffering the wrath of the son of one of the city's most powerful mob bosses, he's got to rely on the luck of the draw, so to speak, to keep him afloat.

'American Heist' (2014)

"American Heist" centers around two brothers who find themselves pulled back into each other’s lives at the worst possible time. James (Hayden Christensen) has worked hard to keep his head down while working at a garage, trying to build something real with his girlfriend. Frankie (Adrien Brody) has just gotten out of prison and carries the weight of old debts and dangerous friends. He shows up with a plan that’s supposed to fix everything for the both of them, but it means dragging James into a high-risk bank robbery.

What begins as a quick score turns into a tense, messy fight to get out alive. Don't miss out on this movie, and join the pair as they rip around New Orleans looking for their ticket out of the slums for good.
