3 more Steelers looking to make a comeback in 2019

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a handful of players who are looking to either bounce back from miserable seasons or get their careers back on track after extended struggles. We already talked about Chris Boswell, Stephon Tuitt and Eli Rogers as comeback kids but here are three more guys on the retribution tour for 2019.

WR Donte Moncrief

Moncrief came into the league as a third-round pick back in 2014 as a player whose speed was going to set him apart from his counterparts. But through five seasons, Moncrief’s skills have never really been given an opportunity to grow and be showcased in an offense. But Moncrief can turn his career around in Pittsburgh with Ben Roethlisberger throwing him the football. Moncrief has a career-high of 65 receptions in a single season and he will have a shot to match that this season.

LB Mark Barron

It is easy to forget Barron was once the No. 7 overall pick back in 2012. Barron came to the NFL from Alabama as a safety with the size and speed to be interchangeable between safety and linebacker. And for awhile this is exactly what he was. But after being traded to the Rams in 2014, Barron saw his role shift and after two strong campaigns struggled the past two seasons. Despite being 29 Barron has a lot of good football left in him and is going to be a great fit as the Steelers dime safety.

CB Artie Burns

The future of Artie Burns is still uncertain. He’s due a roster bonus just after the start of training camp so there’s a real chance his retribution tour is going to take place on a different team. But if we assume the Steelers saw enough of Burns during offseason workouts to keep him on the roster it isn’t going to be easy for him to make a dent in the depth chart.
