Nov. 22--Three Lake County men have been charged with gun and drug offenses in far north suburban Beach Park after a two-week investigation, Lake County officials said Saturday.
Officials said they targeted a drug house on Waldo Avenue in Beach Park and executed a search warrant Thursday on the home, Lake County Sheriff's officials said in a news release.
In the search, sheriff's detectives recovered 539.5 grams of marijuana, 87.9 grams of heroin, 61.9 grams of powdered cocaine, 14.7 grams of crack cocaine, 10.85 ounces of promethazine, an antihistamine/sedative, and paraphernalia.
Police also recovered two handguns and $5,041 in cash.
Damon D. Duffie, 30, of Beach Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of DeKalb County for failure to appear in court for allegedly writing bad checks.
Dwayne D. Gordon, 28, of Waukegan, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated possession of a firearm, armed violence and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, sheriff's officials said.
Aaron Swopes, 31, of Waukegan, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance as well as traffic violations.
Duffie and Gordon are being held on $1 million bail. Swopes is being held on $100,000 bail.
