3 men arrested for bursting crackers from moving car in Gurgaon; released on bail

GURGAON: Three men were arrested by the police on Friday for reportedly setting off firecrackers from the roof of a moving car in Gurgaon.

They were later released on bail. The incident came to light when a video of the act surfaced on social media, drawing the attention of law enforcement.

The individuals involved were identified as Vivek and Jatin, both residents of old Gurgaon, and Lokesh, hailing from Jharsa village. Additionally, a black Ford Endeavour, believed to be the same vehicle featured in the video, was seized. Rajpal, a relative of Lokesh, was identified as the owner of the car.

The police's response was prompted by a complaint lodged by Head Constable Baljeet Singh. In his complaint, he highlighted a video circulating on social media since Wednesday night, which displayed a black SUV being driven recklessly along Golf Course Road with firecrackers placed on its roof.

Singh emphasized that the driver's actions not only endangered his own life but also posed a significant risk to others on the road. Consequently, he urged legal action to be taken. Following Singh's complaint, an FIR was registered against the unknown car driver under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 279 (rash driving), 336 (endangering life), and 188 (disobedience of orders by a public servant), at Sector 53 Police Station on Thursday.

All three accused were subsequently released on bail after cooperating with the investigation. The police also discovered another vehicle involved in a similar incident during their inquiries. Sector 53 Police Station SHO Inspector Rajender Kumar provided this update on the case.
